Embedding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility

According to the 2023 U.S. Energy and Employment Report, the energy efficiency workforce has a similar demographic makeup in terms of race and ethnicity to the U.S. workforce overall, but women are under-represented (26% compared to 47%).

Assuring a strong, sizable, and skilled workforce nationwide requires industry workforce and employer organizations to expand their diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) efforts. This spans everything from recruitment to onboarding to company culture and policies. It requires organizations to first take an unbiased assessment of where they are now, work collaboratively to set goals, build authentic relationships, and track and evaluate progress.
