Plug Load Management System Field Study: Wireless Meters and Controls

The DOE Better Buildings Alliance Plug and Process Load Technical Research Team hosted its biannual call on March 20th, 2019 at 1pm EST. Technical Team Lead, Kim Trenbath, provided updates on current and upcoming PPL Team research efforts, as well as other relevant industry updates. Our technical presentation was given by Alicen Kandt from NREL, who provided a summary of a recent field study that assessed a wireless meter and control system (also known as “smart outlets”) for plug loads in two retail environments. Quantitative and qualitative performance results were discussed. There was also time for attendee discussion and commentary on the call topics.
