Public-Private Partnership for Solar Photovoltaic Electric Energy Systems

Overview

Dysart Unified School District, AZ partnered with Constellation Solar AZ LLC to install solar panels to meet the electricity needs of 21 sites throughout the District. Constellation Solar AZ financed the on-site solar project with no upfront cost to the District. The District purchases the electricity generated by the systems at a discounted rate, which is projected to yield cumulative cost savings of $14 million over 20 years. The systems provide educational benefits to students and the community, with the real-time power outputs of the panels viewable on Dysart’s public interactive solar website, as in the Canyon Ridge example. The installations also provide beneficial shade for playgrounds and parking lots.
