The Wendy's Company: Restaurant Support Center

The Restaurant Support Center in Dublin, Ohio, serves as the corporate headquarters for The Wendy’s Company. The employees in this building provide support for the more than 6,700 Wendy’s restaurants across the globe. The Restaurant Support Center is a unique 325,000 square-foot facility containing an office complex, data center, and a test kitchen. In 2013, Wendy’s built a new wing called the Thomas Conference Center, which added 75,000 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center, and office space for employees. The Thomas Building and Conference Center was awarded LEED® Silver certification in spring 2013.

Energy efficiency improvements implemented at the Restaurant Support Center have included LED lighting upgrades for approximately 400 fixtures, chiller replacements, and retro-commissioning. These projects led to a 32% reduction in source energy between 2013 and 2018.

The energy efficiency measures implemented at the Restaurant Support Center resulted in a greenhouse gas emissions reduction of nearly 28 percent from 2013 to 2017. The local utility, AEP Ohio, also recognized Wendy’s in 2014 for its commitment to energy efficiency. Wendy's® was founded in 1969 by Dave Thomas in Columbus, Ohio. Dave built his business on the premise, “Quality is our Recipe®,” which remains the guidepost of the Wendy’s system. Wendy’s is best known for its made-to-order square hamburgers, using fresh, never frozen beef*, freshly-prepared salads with hand-chopped lettuce, and other signature items like chili, baked potatoes and the Frosty® dessert. The Wendy’s Company is committed to doing the right thing and making a positive difference in the lives of others. This is most visible through the Company’s support of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® and its signature Wendy’s Wonderful Kids® program, which seeks to find every child in the North American foster care system a loving, forever home. Today, Wendy’s and its franchisees employ hundreds of thousands of people across more than 6,700 restaurants worldwide with a vision of becoming the world’s most thriving and beloved restaurant brand.
