Developing and delivering a cost-effective proactive replacement strategy for RTUs is challenging because it involves many complex factors. To successfully optimize energy and cost performance, the strategy must include evaluation of a range of economic and non-economic factors. This document introduces the key elements to consider in making the business case for a proactive highefficiency RTU replacement strategy for facility maintenance staff and building engineers who are responsible for energy management of commercial buildings. Better Buildings Alliance members recognize the value of efficient RTU practices and have identified them as a priority with the development and launch of the Advanced RTU Campaign.
