Business Case for Proactive Rooftop Unit (RTU) Replacement

Developing and delivering a cost-effective proactive replacement strategy for RTUs is challenging because it involves many complex factors. To successfully optimize energy and cost performance, the strategy must include evaluation of a range of economic and non-economic factors. This document introduces the key elements to consider in making the business case for a proactive high efficiency RTU replacement strategy for facility maintenance staff and building engineers who are responsible for energy management of commercial buildings. Better Buildings & Better Plants Initiative members recognize the value of efficient RTU practices and have identified them as a priority with the development and launch of the Advanced RTU Campaign.
