Improving Building Performance with Envelope Technologies

Building envelopes (roofs, walls, windows) account for 5.81 quads of energy each year. It can be challenging keeping up with available envelope energy-saving technologies while planning a new building or a retrofit. This session showcased owner and manager building construction and retrofit experiences while experts from DOE's Envelope Research Team highlighted the newest, promising energy-saving technologies, including dynamic windows, liquid flashing and primer-less air sealants, and integrated wall systems.
