Decarbonizing the Public Sector: Options for Cities and States

This session highlighted key decarbonization strategies and portfolio-wide planning approaches implemented by state and local governments. Learn how the State of Maryland conducted large-scale emissions reduction planning across agencies and the strategies it used to engage team members on the state's energy and emissions reduction goals. The D.C. Sustainable Energy Utility shared its experience implementing programs that align with the District's GHG reduction goals. A representative from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts shared findings from recent decarbonization studies completed by state universities. A building decarbonization expert from the National Renewable Energy Lab also highlighted decarbonization technologies relevant for state and local governments.
