It plans to achieve reductions through a structured climate transition plan that includes the following steps to meet these targets:

Continuing manufacturing process improvements to drive energy efficiency
Investing in renewable energy both on and off-site
Driving energy efficiency and deep energy retrofits

For their 10 US production facilities, Whirlpool has plans in place to implement 100% renewable energy sources (VPPA, PPA, and on-site) to account for all the US scope 2 emissions ahead of the 10-year timeline. In addition, they have set internal targets for each of the manufacturing sites to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
