Wendium of Florida, Inc. (Wendy's franchisee)

Wendium of Florida, Inc., a franchisee of The Wendy's Company, started in 1996 and currently owns six Wendy’s restaurants in Miami, Florida.

The franchise entered the Better Buildings Challenge to help grow its business and improve profits. One of the five core values of The Wendy's Company is “profit means growth,” and Wendium takes great pride in growing its business. Wendium of Florida, Inc. understands that growing its business also leads to new opportunities for its franchise and people.

Wendium of Florida, Inc. uses a “Three Green’s Strategy” to prioritize the money the franchise invests in new equipment, asking these questions:

  1. Does it save energy?
  2. Does it reduce repair and maintenance cost?
  3. Does it make the environment for our guests and/or our employees better?

This strategy is proving to be successful for identifying building improvements across Wendium's portfolio that achieve both energy and cost savings.

Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas said, “Take care of your business and your business will take care of you,” and Wendium of Florida, Inc., believes this lesson ties into their Three Green's Strategy.
