The Village of Hempstead Housing Authority’s mission is to provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing for low-income persons in the Village of Hempstead. Hempstead Housing Authority operates 281 units of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) assisted senior citizen and family housing at four locations, and a 475 voucher Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program.
Hempstead Housing Authority is committed to weatherizing all of its buildings through the federal low-income weatherization program. It will meet the goals of the Better Buildings Challenge by working with its utility partners and NYSERDA to improve the energy efficiency of its facilities.
