Victory Housing, Inc.

Victory Housing, Inc., a regional nonprofit, serves as the housing development arm of the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, with over 35 communities providing more than 2,800 units of rental housing in Maryland and Washington, D.C. For more than four decades, Victory’s mission has been to build, acquire, renovate, manage and operate affordable housing for seniors and families and assisted living for low to-moderate income seniors. Victory Housing has a successful track record of delivering on this mission in Montgomery, Prince George’s, Charles and St. Mary’s counties in Maryland and in Washington, D.C. It was recently awarded the HUD Secretary's Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation for advancing the goals of historic preservation while providing affordable housing for the redevelopment of the former Hebrew Home for the Aged in Washington, D.C. into The Appleton, a LEED Gold affordable senior community.

Victory Housing is committed to promoting environmental sustainability and resiliency for its portfolio through their actions, including the completion of five LEED certified projects since 2018 and installing solar panels in five communities in 2019. In 2023, Victory Housing embarked on the next phase of these efforts, with sustainability priorities in new construction, solar panel installation that will benefit 18 additional communities, and benchmarking energy usage across the entire portfolio as a baseline for creating individual improvement plans.

Victory has pledged to reduce GHG emissions by 50% and to reduce energy consumption by 20% over the next 10 years.

Victory is committed to promoting environmental sustainability and resiliency for their portfolio through actions in new construction, capital improvements and on-going operations in the following ways:

For new construction, they aim to achieve LEED Gold certification, equivalent or better, continuing the process started in 2018.
For capital improvements, they will pursue Net Zero Emissions over time for each of our properties and replace inefficient equipment ahead of normal replacement schedule as funding allows. The nonprofit also plans to incorporate the highest efficiency equipment for all scheduled upgrades, electrify all major systems to reduce on-site emissions, and build climate resiliency into all renovations.
In on-going operations, the nonprofit plans to operatone on 100% renewable energy by installing solar arrays in every community where feasible, purchase green energy for all power procured from the grid, and improve energy and water efficiency through proactively installing LED lighting and low flow faucets and fixtures, insulating buildings, and using ENERGY STAR appliances.
