Trane Technologies

Trane Technologies’ purpose is to boldly challenge what’s possible for a sustainable world. The company has established new, multi-faceted 2030 Sustainability Commitments including Leading by Example through actions to achieve carbon neutral operations, operate with zero waste to landfill and net positive water use, and to reduce absolute energy use by 10 percent vs a 2019 baseline.

PORTFOLIO-WIDE LEADERSHIP COMMITMENTS

Minimum 50% GHG reduction in 10 years
20% reduction in Energy Intensity

TRANE TECHNOLOGIES IS PARTICIPATING IN THE FOLLOWING DOE PROGRAMS:

Better Climate Challenge   Better Plants Challenge

They have also set bold commitments around Scope 3 emissions with their Gigaton Challenge to reduce customers’ emissions by 1 billion metric tons. Their ambitious GHG emissions reduction targets have been verified by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). Trane Technologies is the first in their industry (global HVAC/climate) to have their GHG emission targets verified by SBTi, and one of only 47 companies globally to have its targets verified twice.

By joining the DOE’s Better Climate Challenge, Trane Technologies commits to reducing their absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% and to reduce their energy intensity by 20%, combined with their goal for a 10% reduction in absolute energy consumption. Their carbon focus is for 100% of electricity usage to be from renewables, shift to use of refrigerants with low/zero Global Warming Potential in HVAC manufacturing, electrify manufacturing and transportation operations, and to use carbon neutral alternative fuels where electrification is not possible.
