Stoneweg US is a real estate investment firm based in St. Petersburg, Florida, specializing in the acquisition and development of multifamily assets. The Stoneweg US team challenges the conventions of real estate investment through a research driven, results-oriented approach that integrates ESG & sustainability into its overarching strategy. Founded in 2016, Stoneweg US is affiliated with the Stoneweg Group, headquartered in Geneva Switzerland. Stoneweg US is the exclusive asset manager of Varia US Properties AG, a publicly traded, Swiss company, whose mandate consists of investing in workforce multifamily apartment communities that promote a high-quality of life for residents. The geographic footprint of our portfolio currently spans 15 states and is comprised of ~50 assets totaling ~15k apartment units, ~15MM gross square feet with an AUM of >$2B. Stoneweg US is committed to meeting GHG reduction goals as part of our larger ESG & sustainability benchmarking efforts through platforms and reporting frameworks such as Energy Star Portfolio Manager, UN SDGs, GRESB and TCFD.
Stoneweg US is committed to reducing the GHG intensity of the multifamily communities we invest in by 50% in 10 years vs our 2022 baseline. To achieve this goal, we have to start with understanding what our emissions are by benchmarking. Our primary tool for benchmarking is Energy Star Portfolio Manager. Our second priority is engagement. We share our goals, educate, and incentivize our staff, service providers & investors around sustainability. The third aspect of our strategy is integrating our capital investment strategy to promote making high-efficiency mechanical and appliance replacements a routine part of all business plans, as well as adding on-site renewable sources of energy such as solar. The final step is to be transparent with our stakeholders about the results of our actions and to seek continuous improvement in the process to achieve our emissions reduction goal.
