Sherwin-Williams is committed to the efficient use of energy throughout their operations, with a focus on reducing energy use, as well as expanding the use of renewable energy. Each year, Sherwin-Williams evaluates opportunities to improve their energy efficiency by evaluating new technology, optimizing current processes, and implementing programs that focus on improvements in safety, quality, people, service, and cost. Sherwin-Williams is committed to reducing the environmental footprint of their global operations. They take a continuous improvement approach to reduce carbon emissions, energy use, and waste while expanding the sourcing of renewable energy and recycling methods.
The Sherwin-Williams Company achieved their initial energy intensity reduction goal in 2016, and has since repledged as a Challenge partner with a second energy intensity reduction goal.
Sherwin-Williams received a 2023 Better Practice Award for initiating a Sustainability Challenge for new hire employees in its Accelerated Development Program, who identified more than $100,000 in savings opportunitiy by reducing energy and water use, and decreasing waste sent to landfills.
