Reno, NV
Northern Nevada is finding innovative ways to incorporate both natural and local alternative energy resources: from geothermal to solar to wind. The City of Reno and surrounding communities are home to 200,000 residents, academic institutions, and hospitals, while also becoming a manufacturing hub for companies like Amazon, Patagonia, Petsmart, Apple and Switch seeking expansion opportunities in the high desert. The City of Reno is taking a leadership-by-example approach, partnering with the local utility company NV Energy to implement energy efficiency measures and optimize existing systems on its 50+ identified municipal buildings and facilities. Additionally, the City is inviting community leaders to partner with the city to reduce energy use as a part of ReEnergize Reno.
ReEnergize Reno is an ambitious program to improve the efficiency of commercial, industrial, and multifamily buildings 20% by 2025. The program will help cut energy and water waste in large buildings and reduce climate pollution. This program comes as the region aims to combat the trend of Reno becoming one of the fastest warming cities in the United States.
