QTS DATA CENTERS IS PARTICIPATING IN THE FOLLOWING DOE PROGRAMS:

Better Climate Challenge

QTS is committed to integrating environmental sustainability into their business practices because they believe such practices enhance the value of our investments. These sustainability initiatives also reduce risk and support their goal to reduce climate impact. They drive data center efficiency through innovation, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, encourage their employees to become sustainability leaders in their communities, support local legislation impacting sustainability, and promote transparency on sustainable practices in the industry.

The energy necessary to operate data centers accounts for approximately three percent of global power consumption, and two percent of greenhouse gas emissions. QTS is committed to energy efficiency and the consolidation of colocation clients in high-efficiency data centers. They have committed to power 100% of their portfolio with carbon-free energy. Even as their business continues to grow and like-for-like energy consumption has increased, their carbon intensity has declined since 2018 when they began our program to procure renewable energy.  As they pursue their strategy to procure more carbon-free energy, their fuel and energy activity related emissions continue to decrease. To support their long-term sustainability goals, we have joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Climate Challenge, committing to reduce portfolio-wide GHG emissions (scope 1 & 2)
