The Tiger Team conducts focus reviews with local site engineers to design/retrofit aging and inefficient systems/equipment. The team is supported by Lockheed Martin's set aside Gated Capital Funding Program for go green and energy efficient projects.

Lockheed Martin employs a comprehensive Go Green strategy with an industry-leading program focused on reducing the company’s energy, water and waste footprint. The company is developing new tools and metrics to better understand energy usage and identify additional energy saving opportunities that can make operations more energy efficient. The corporate Go Green team works with energy, water, and waste experts across the corporation to evaluate potential energy and water savings projects. The company participates in programs such as the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Plants Challenge. Benefiting from the resources, expertise and valuable peer networking opportunities offered through these partnerships helps the company achieve its energy and carbon reduction goals. Since the inception of the Go Green Program in 2007, Lockheed Martin has reduced carbon emissions by more than 45%, energy by 25%, water by 40% and waste since 2014 by 12%. These reductions are attributed to persistent efforts across the enterprise to improve efficiency from a combination of energy and water projects involving HVAC systems, controls, central heating and cooling plants, irrigation and lighting. The company’s Go Green metrics and goals program is used to measure success and is updated periodically with input from each of the company’s business areas. Central to the latest goals is the use of energy intensity metrics to drive carbon reduction to a science-based target level of holding global temperature increase below 1.5 degrees C.

Lockheed Martin received a 2021 Better Project Award for optimizing a facility's cogeneration system and central utility plant, saving $1.5 million in annual energy costs with a 2.2-year payback.
