Lawrence Berkeley National Lab

Lawrence Berkeley National Lab

The Lawrence Berkeley National Lab is a member of the national laboratory system supported by the U.S. Department of Energy through its Office of Science. It is managed by the University of California (UC) and is charged with conducting unclassified research across a wide range of scientific disciplines. Berkeley Lab employs approximately 4,200 scientists, engineers, support staff and students.

As a Better Buildings Challenge Partner, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has committed to reduce energy use in two of their data centers by 20% by 2024, with a combined peak load of 0.7MW across 7,900 square feet. They plan to meet their goal by measures including more accurate meters and sensors, improved cooling strategies, and more efficient IT equipment and UPSs.
