Vision 2030 is International Paper’s commitment to building a better future for people, the planet, and the company. International Paper has reduced their GHG emissions by over 20% since 2010, and has established a 35% absolute reduction goal by 2030 (from 2019 baseline). This goal includes Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions, and has been approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative as consistent with the Paris Accord goal to limit global temperature rise to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels.

International Paper is committed to advancing a clean energy transition and leading the growth of the circular economy. Their partnership with DOE’s Better Climate Challenge is just one example of how they are acting on their commitment to promote climate action to include people, communities, and partner organizations with whom they can work together to create a low-carbon future. Specific levers to decarbonize their operations and supply chain include energy efficiency initiatives, fuel-switching capital projects, renewable energy market participation, and supply chain collaboration.
