Hillsboro School District

Hillsboro School District (HSD) located in northwest Oregon is comprised of 40 buildings including 25 elementary schools, four middle schools, four high schools, one K-8 school, three alternative education facilities and four administrative buildings. The total district portfolio size spans 3,270,000 square feet and serves over 20,000 students in K-12.

The district is committed to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability as part of the Hillsboro 2035 Community Plan. HSD participates in the Sustainability Task Force as well as benchmarks school energy consumption using the EPA ENERGY STAR’s® Portfolio Manager tool. As part of its commitment in the Better Buildings Challenge, the district has set a 20% energy reduction goal by 2023 with a baseline of 2014. The district utilized a bond cycle that included building system upgrades to 75% of the existing buildings. HSD’s first and second solar array will be completed and operational by the 2023-24 school year. HSD also participates in the Oregon Green Schools program to bring environmental sustainability into the curriculum and wider community.
