Highwoods Properties owns, develops, acquires, leases and manages office and mixed-use properties primarily in BBDs (Best Business Districts) of Atlanta, Greensboro, Memphis, Nashville, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Richmond and Tampa. Highwoods has been employing engineers for decades that are committed to controlling and reducing the energy consumption of their portfolio, starting with early microprocessor-based controls and continuing through more recent advances in lighting and analytical tools.

Strategically, Highwoods is committed to reducing the environmental impacts of their properties and creating healthy and productive workspaces for their customers and community through lowering operating costs, increasing asset value, and having a positive environmental impact. They plan to achieve our 20% reduction by investing $17 million in building control systems modernization, deploying a lighting transition program to convert over a half-million fluorescent lights to LED, and continually monitoring and tuning our buildings with our LiveMeter program.
