HPE is using their position as one of the world’s largest information technology (IT) companies to help address some of society’s most pressing challenges. Their strategy is to use their portfolio and expertise to tackle complex issues—such as improving energy and resource efficiency. They are proud of their continued leadership to lead the sector in setting science-based targets across the value chain, a feat that they accomplished first in the IT sector in 2015. While HPE has successfully performed against their 2025 targets, they have committed to setting net-zero targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Their global sales sites and headquarters are part of ISO certification program. In total, they had 12 locations certified to ISO 14001 and four sites are awaiting the audit process to be certified to the new ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Standard, replacing the ISO 18001 standard, comprising 6% of all HPE sites.
Hewlett-Packard Enterprise received a 2023 Better Project Award for creating a combined heat and power plant that is expected to reduce annual energy costs by over $2 million and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 60%. The CHP system also improves resiliency by providing continuous power during hurricanes.
