The Alliance for Environmental Sustainability DBA the GreenHome Institute (GHI) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to empower people to make healthier and more sustainable choices in the renovation and construction of the places we live.

As a DOE Home Energy Score Partner, we help make it easy for professionals to get trained as Assessors anywhere. We provide a foundational credential, Certified GreenHome Professional, as well as a higher level credential, GreenHome Inspector.  We educate consumers on the benefits of hiring a Home Energy Score Assessor to obtain a Home Energy Score, which can be used toward the residential GreenStar Homes Certification that we administer.  We also help consumers understand how green home upgrades could be incentivized with Inflation Reduction Act funds. Lastly, we partner with cities to help establish incentive programs or home energy disclosure policies that include the Home Energy Score.
