Ford is developing a comprehensive Energy Management Operating System to help reduce energy consumption through continuous improvement in process, design, and culture.

As a Better Buildings, Better Plants Challenge Partner, Ford Motor Company commits to reducing energy demand by a minimum of 25 percent from 2011 to 2021 in its 23 U.S. manufacturing plants, which cover 61 million square feet.

Ford continues to drive water reductions with its new, aggressive, 15% water absolute reduction goal from 2021 to 2025 (2019 baseline). For alignment purposes with US DOE, Ford will utilize this value for water intensity.

Ford received a 2020 Better Project Award for implementing a series of upgrades and technological improvements to achieve a 50% reduction in energy and water use at its Dearborn Research and Engineering Campus Central Energy Plant - Project Presentation.
