Emerson
Emerson’s purpose is to drive innovation that makes the world healthier, safer, smarter, and more sustainable. Emerson is a global industrial automation, controls, and HVAC/R manufacturer, with over 200 manufacturing sites and 700 total facilities across a global network of operations. In 2019, the company made its first commitment to reduce GHG emissions, normalized to sales, by 20% from a 2018 baseline. It expects to achieve this target well before the original deadline of 2028. Most recently, in 2021, Emerson announced SBTi-validated Net Zero targets to achieve Net Zero scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030 and scope 3 emissions by 2045.

Emerson has pledged to reduce its scope 1 and 2 emissions by 100% by 2030. To achieve this goal, its 4-part strategy will rely on 1) Energy Efficiency, achieving a 25% decrease in energy intensity through a robust energy efficiency and management program, 2) Renewable Energy, sourcing 100% renewable energy across its global operations, 3) Scope 1 Abatement through electrification and the procurement of biofuels and hydrogen, and 4) Neutralization Through Technological Solutions for the remainder of hard-to-abate activities, up to a maximum of 10% of its carbon footprint per SBTi allowances.

Emerson’s two core business platforms — Automation Solutions and Commercial & Residential Solutions — allow them to identify and confront the challenges of an increasingly complex and unpredictable marketplace from a position of strength, driving near- and long-term value as a trusted partner for their customers.
