Eastman is a global specialty materials company that produces a broad range of products found in items people use every day. Headquartered in Kingsport, Tennessee, Eastman employs approximately 14,500 people around the world and serves customers in more than 100 countries.

Since the 1970s, Eastman’s energy policy has balanced the need for affordable energy supplies with the need to reduce the amount of energy needed to make our products. Eastman’s integrated manufacturing processes and use of combined heat and power (CHP) results in highly efficient operations.

Eastman received a 2022 Better Project Award for developing and implementing an optimization model that provides a facility’s operators with real-time recommendations for powerhouse equipment, leading to energy savings of approximately 960,000 MMBtu a year.

Eastman received a 2023 Better Practice Award for developing an organizational structure for its sustainability program that integrates the energy management and sustainability teams, which has resulted in a more than 12% improvement in energy intensity since the baseline year with over 70 active energy efficiency projects valued at over $20 million.
