The City of La Crosse was incorporated in 1856 on the western border of Wisconsin along the Mississippi River. The municipality has a portfolio of buildings that include a city hall, wastewater treatment plant, civic center, airport, libraries, park shelters and neighborhood centers, ice arena, and public works garages. Previous GHG emissions reductions approaches and successes include LED lighting retrofits; upgrade to more efficient boilers, chillers, and HVAC equipment; and adding solar photovoltaic arrays to several buildings.
