Cascap Inc.
Cascap Inc.
Since 1973 Cascap Inc. has been providing secure, affordable and dignified housing and services for members of the Greater Boston community who are disadvantaged due to income, disability or age. Cascap owns and manages over 220 units of housing at 33 locations throughout the Metro-Boston area. The housing runs the gamut from group homes and individual condominiums to multifamily apartments and from Victorian era construction to contemporary apartment buildings. Since Cascap began developing affordable housing in 1988, they have become increasingly aware of the need to contain utility costs, and to create beautiful buildings that are assets to the community and are affordable in perpetuity. Many of its properties are award winning for their design and sensitive restoration of historic buildings.
For the last ten years, Cascap has been working with its community partners to improve its new construction design to incorporate green features, and to assess and reduce its energy and water consumption in its multifamily properties. In joining the Better Buildings Challenge, Cascap further commits to a portfolio wide reduction in energy usage for its multifamily properties. Cascap will work to improve its building portfolio performance by conducting capital needs assessments and energy audits, installing comprehensive energy reduction measures, and monitoring post-retrofit energy usage to measure and maximize savings. Cascap is also committed to reducing its dependence on fossil fuels and has been exploring ways to bring renewable energy systems to its properties.
