Caritas Communities provides very low-income individuals with permanent housing, support, a sense of community and expanded opportunities. For more than 30 years, Caritas has helped fill the need for safe, secure housing in Greater Boston. In addition to providing permanent housing, Caritas helps to ensure that those who defended our nations’ liberties will have a home when their military service ends by providing permanent veteran housing with supportive services in Greater Boston. They also strategically partner with 20 housing placement and social service agencies to provide supportive services to their residents in need of help.

Caritas is committed to expanding its property portfolio through selective acquisition and ground-up development. Patriot Homes, a new 24 unit development in South Boston, is nearing completion and two other projects are in the works.  Central design themes for these new properties include high performance green buildings and energy efficiency. When possible, Caritas builds to a LEED standard and its commitment to energy efficiency is evident through its partnership with the Better Buildings Challenge. Caritas is committed to reducing its portfolio wide energy use by 20% over the next 10 years.
