Boston Medical Center’s goal is to be carbon neutral by 2030. While the Medical Center has made substantial progress in reducing the carbon footprint of its buildings, there is still more work to be done. Over the last five (5) years, through its master plan, BMC has been able to shed buildings and square footage that are inefficient and high consumers of energy and other resources, while improving building efficiencies with renovations and new capital equipment investment. As BMC moves forward, it will look to replace inefficient equipment and recommission existing equipment and space to optimize existing system until they are replaced.
