Avon Park Housing Authority (APHA) was established in 1965 with the mission of assisting low-income families find safe, decent and affordable housing opportunities as they strive to achieve self-sufficiency and improve the quality of their lives. The Housing Authority creates and maintains partnerships with its clients and appropriate community agencies in order to accomplish this mission. APHA owns or operates low income subsidized properties for the communities it serves. The APHA portfolio consists of 129 units of Public Housing and a 36 unit Mark-to-Market Section 8 Project Based multifamily development.

APHA’s Better Buildings Challenge commitment and goal is to reduce the total energy consumption level for both its public and multi-family housing stock by 20%. The revitalization effort anticipated to improve its multifamily portfolio will include, but will not be limited to HVAC and building envelope improvements, interior and exterior LED lighting, solar energy for common area loads, low-flow water fixtures, and on-demand heating systems.
