ABB has committed to reduce their Scope 1 & 2 carbon emissions by 80% by 2030, with a 2019 baseline.
ABB has also declared an Energy Intensity reduction target of 25% by 2030, with a 2019 baseline.
They will achieve these goals by continuing to improve energy efficiency across their operations, implementing renewable energy systems at their facilities, and by sourcing green electricity.
ABB received a 2023 Better Project Award for installing a full capture system for Sulfur Hexaflurodie (SF6) emissions at their Pinetops, NC facility, effectively eliminating 99% of these emissions and significantly decreasing Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions and lowering ABB's U.S. carbon footprint by more than 16%.
