The design focused on reducing energy consumption by integrating Passive House principals and geothermal heating and cooling to achieve a nearly 30% energy reduction off baseline.

Agropur reduced energy use by 40%, saving $286,000, by replacing two existing plate and frame heat exchangers with two new exchangers that have approximately 50% more capacity and run at a higher suction pressure.

Alcoa expanded its Barberton, Ohio, production plant to include a new 50,000-square-foot recycling facility that uses a novel technology to reduce energy use by more than 30%. As a result of this project, Alcoa will use about half as much energy to produce and distribute recycled aluminum as it did before the plant was built.
