Science and technology on a mission—this defines LLNL. Using a multidisciplinary approach and drawing heavily on its unparalleled modeling and simulation capabilities, LLNL exploits unique capabilities in areas such as additive manufacturing, lasers, and bioengineering to develop innovative solutions to the nation’s most pressing problems. Some notable breakthroughs include plastic radiation detectors, artificial retinas, chromosome painting, laser peening and sub-three-minute PCR.
