ISO 50001: 2011 to 2018 Transition Guide
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) published the second edition of ISO 50001 in August 2018. There are several notable changes in this 2018 edition. Though these updates do not significantly change the functionality of your energy management system (EnMS), you will want to make sure your organization understands these changes fully.
The ISO 50001:2011 to 2018 Transition Guide has been created by the DOE, LBNL, and the US TAG as a resource to understand these changes. This document includes a section-by section comparison of the differences between the 2011 and 2018 versions of ISO 50001 and updates any processes or documentation necessary to meet the requirements of this second edition. We recommend you review this document and the updated standard with ample time before your next planned certification. ISO 50001:2018 is available through the Georgia Institute of Technology.
