Participants in the Interior Lighting Campaign shared their results and best practices after upgrading their lighting systems and achieving impressive results. These troffer retrofit case studies provide cross-sector solutions for retail, food service, commercial real estate, healthcare, higher education, and more. 	CHRISTUS Health CHRISTUS Health cut lighting energy use 61% at St. Michael Hospital when they replaced fluorescent lamps with LEDs.
	CKE Restaurants CKE Restaurant Holdings, Inc., which owns the Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s, Green Burrito, and Red Burrito restaurant brands, was recently recognized in three categories for excellence and leadership in interior lighting by the Interior Lighting Campaign.
	Clean Harbors Sustainable Technologies, an environmental engineering firm, worked with Clean Harbors Environmental, a hazardous waste remediation firm, to replace troffer lighting in Clean Harbors’ transportation consolidation warehouse and offices.
	Cleveland Clinic Cleveland Clinic retrofitted 10,500 troffers with LEDs at its Lerner Research Center in Cleveland for an energy savings of 2.6 million kWh per year.
	Northern Arizona University The Student and Academic Services Building was designed with a comprehensive suite of energy-efficient lighting features, including space-by-space light level controls to enable scheduling as well as dimming in individual offices, conference rooms, and classrooms.
	Target Target was recognized for its corporate-wide LED troffer lighting retrofit and new construction installations. Annual savings from the 107 projects yielded an estimated 26 million kWh.
	Army Reserve 9th Mission Support Command The Army Reserve 9th Mission Support Command (MSC) reduced lighting energy consumption by 62% for a total savings of 125,000 kWh and more than $50,000 per year by replacing over 400 fluorescent troffers with 36W LED troffers.
	Army Reserve 99th Regional Support Command The Army Reserve 99th Regional Support Command (RSC) cut its energy consumption in half at the Support Command's Technical Sergeant Vernon McGarity Army Reserve Center by replacing more than 1,200 fluorescent troffers with 46W and 61W LED troffers with dimmers.
	New Carrollton Federal Building The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) cut a $291,000 annual lighting electric bill down to an estimated $53,500 by installing LED troffer lights and lighting controls in the New Carrollton Federal Building in Lanham, Maryland.
	U.S. Toy Company U.S. Toy retrofitted 470 troffers at its corporate headquarters, as part of a lighting upgrade that cut energy use by 54,000 kWh and improved employee satisfaction with workspace lighting.
	Byron G. Rogers Federal Building GSA replaced existing T12 and T8 luminaires with LED-dedicated troffers with advanced controls at the Byron G. Rogers Federal Building in Denver, Colorado.

Lighting Controls Case Studies

TLED Lighting Retrofits with Dedicated Drivers
Pacific Northwest National Lab (PNNL) evaluated two linear LED lighting retrofits compatible with advanced lighting controls and the existing lens and fixture. Results showed energy savings between 27-29%. Part of the GSA Green Proving Ground.

LED Fixtures with Integrated Advanced Lighting Controls
Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL) evaluated new plug-and-play fixtures installed at the Ralph H. Metcalfe Federal Building in Chicago and the Peachtree Summit Federal Building in Atlanta. The fixtures maintained lighting quality, simplified control system setup, and achieved lighting energy savings of 69%. Part of the GSA Green Proving Ground.
