Meet our ITV Technology Experts

The ITV program objectively assesses the performance of new technologies in a real-world industrial environment and requires a team of experts who are proficient in implementing, validating, and verifying innovative industrial technologies. 

John O'Neill
Technology Manager, Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation, DOE

John manages the ITV program, providing strategic direction and program oversight. In addition, John manages the DOE CMEI's Better Plants program, through which industrial companies can partner with the Department of Energy to set ambitious energy, water, and waste reduction goals. John holds a master’s degree in energy and environmental policy from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Crystal Bell
ITV Technical Partnership Lead, Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation, DOE

Crystal Bell is a technology fellow with DOE's Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation. She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry with a focus in Materials Science and B.S. in Chemistry. She has a breadth of experience in formulation development for commercial cleaning, as well as expertise in designing and characterizing meta fuel cell applications. 

DR. PRAKASH RAO 
ITV LAB TEAM LEAD, LBNL

Led over 40 energy efficiency and pollution prevention assessments of manufacturing facilities, including extensive data collection to estimate energy savings potential.

PAUL SHEAFFER 
ITV SENIOR ADVISOR, LBNL

Broad background in industrial sector energy use, end-use technologies; motor-driven, steam, and process heating; distributed generation; standards development.

DR. SHANKAR EARNI 
ITV TECHNICAL LEAD, LBNL

Extensive M&V lead experience, AEE Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Certified Measurement and Verification Professional Supports FEMP M&V activities.

AMY PEVZNER 
ITV OPERATIONS LEAD, LBNL

Program support for industry-wide adoption of energy optimization with more than 15 years dedicated to energy and environmental program management in the commercial building and industrial sectors.

 

DR. PETER THERKELSEN 
ITV SENIOR TECHNICAL PROGRAM ADVISOR, LBNL

Focuses on industrial energy performance management as well as the development deployment of responsible energy efficiency and generation technologies.
