Trane Technologies: Energy performance

Better Buildings, Better Plants Challenge partners strive to decrease source energy use intensity (EUI) and to increase the percent improvement compared to a set baseline year.  As part of the Better Plants Challenge Trane Technologies has pledged to improve the energy intensity at 21 facilities 20% by 2030 from a 2019 baseline.  Trane Technologies has also pledged to reduce by 2030 the absolute energy consumption for global operations by 10% from a 2019 baseline.

Trane Technologies' product portfolio is diverse, and its operations are integrated. Trane Technologies uses corporate-level energy intensity as the Better Plants key performance indicator.  We track energy consumption and revenue generated. An annual energy intensity is calculated by the total energy consumed (MM BTUs) divided by revenue generated.  The annual percent change for energy intensity is monitored for progress toward their 2030 commitment to reduce energy intensity by 20%.
