PORTFOLIO ENERGY PERFORMANCE

Better Buildings Challenge Partners strive to decrease portfolio-wide source energy use intensity (EUI) and to increase the percent improvement compared to a set baseline. Manchester School District's portfolio consists of 22 buildings and more than 2 million square feet.

*The district has improved energy performance by 16% from a 2012 baseline. Energy consumption during 2020 was significantly lower than a typical year since COVID-19 disruptions resulted in temporary building closures and reduced occupancy for much of the year. Energy savings have been achieved during COVID-19 or prior to 2020 by the continued implementation of lighting retrofits and boiler replacements with high efficiency models in school properties, increased number of people working remotely, and an energy awareness program focused on low-cost opportunities for savings.

ENERGY PERFORMANCE BY PROPERTY

Manchester SD has achieved energy performance improvement of greater than 10% at 15 of its properties. There are 3 properties that have experienced an increase in Source EUI, most of which can be attributed to the usage of historical oil at schools which will be converted solely to natural gas in the future.

IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT

Manchester SD's portfolio consists of properties with a wide range of baseline EUI values, most of which are from 60 to 100 kBtu/sq. ft. The majority of properties have shown energy improvement since 2012. The properties located near or below the 0% axis may present good opportunities for further savings.
