Iron Mountain Data Centers: Energy performance

Better Buildings Challenge partners sharing data centers strive to decrease portfolio-wide power usage effectiveness (PUE) and to increase the percent improvement compared to a set baseline. Iron Mountain's portfolio consists of 11 data centers with 125+ MW of critical load capacity. Iron Mountain achieved its first goal in 2019, improving energy performance by 40% from a 2016 baseline and meeting their goal of 20% six years early. Iron Mountain has repledged to improve their energy performance another 30% by 2025 from a new 2019 baseline. Energy savings have been achieved by implementing lighting retrofits across all properties, HVAC upgrades at the three largest properties, and an energy awareness program focused on low-cost opportunities for savings.
