Better Buildings Challenge Partners strive to decrease portfolio-wide source energy use intensity (EUI) and to increase the percent improvement compared to a set baseline. The Housing Authority of City of San Buenaventura's portfolio consists of 36 buildings and more than 550 thousand square feet. Since 2013, The housing authority has improved energy performance by an average of 5% each year.  Energy savings have been achieved by implementing lighting retrofits across all properties, HVAC upgrades at the three largest properties, an energy awareness program focused on low-cost opportunities for savings,and various building envelope upgrades across the portfolio.
