Industrial - Better Plants Challenge

Industrial - Better Plants Challenge

Industrial Implementation Models

Challenge partners create unique, replicable implementation models for overcoming energy efficiency barriers, so other organizations can apply these strategies and achieve similar savings.

Industrial Showcase Projects

Challenge partners share details on their energy savings projects, which apply cutting-edge energy efficiency measures to single facilities to achieve comprehensive energy and cost savings.

Better Buildings Summit

Join 900+ attendees and speakers May 15-17 in Washington D.C. to exchange best practices and proven solutions in energy efficiency.

Featured Solutions

To modify Eastman’s existing energy management program to meet the company’s new energy efficiency targets, Eastman formed an Executive Steering Team to garner the needed support and cooperation.
Beginning in 2008, Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority (VVWRA) began planning plant optimization and expansion for its facility to comply with new regulatory limits and increase capacity. VVWRA recognized that in complying with the new regulations they could incorporate project features to reduce future energy costs and eliminate natural gas purchases.
Energy Center of Excellence Implementation Model
TE wanted to establish a new approach to aggressively and effectively promote best practices across over 100 sites and multiple business units and regions, for processes common to most or all of TE’s sites. Specifically, TE created “Centers of Excellence” – “COEs” – for the core manufacturing processes and for energy efficiency. The COEs developed the “Ready-to-Deploy Project” approach to manage and promote best practices more effectively.
Volvo Group NA, in the process of implementing an Energy Management System as part of its participation in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Superior Energy Performance program, identified building HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) as a Significant Energy Use at its Macungie, Pennsylvania plant.
In this session speakers discussed building awareness of energy and cost saving opportunities with operational management, benchmarking and analyzing data, and adding energy considerations and funding into utility planning, among other issues.
