Metrus Energy Sets New Better Buildings Goal After Becoming 2018 Goal Achiever
After being recognized for achieving its first Better Buildings goal of $75 million in financing for energy efficiency-as-a-service projects, Financial Ally Metrus Energy has set a new goal of $175 million that it hopes to achieve and exceed in the near future.
Metrus Energy is a San Francisco-based developer and financier of energy and water efficiency retrofit projects at commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities across the country. Metrus’ Efficiency Services Agreement (ESA) is a pay-for-performance, off-balance sheet financing solution that allows customers to implement efficiency projects with no upfront capital expenditure. A few of the projects that helped Metrus Energy achieve its Better Buildings goal also demonstrate the versatility of the ESA model:
- Incorporating Water Efficiency Measures into an ESA for Parrish Medical Center demonstrates how ESAs can be used to implement water efficiency upgrades
- Efficiency Service Agreement (ESA) in BAE Facilities Nationwide and Scaling ESAs Through Site Bundling provide examples of how ESAs can scale across multiple sites
- Bundling efficiency upgrades at different sites – and located in different states – into a single ESA project for a Fortune 100 Technology customer
Metrus Energy contributed to the $3.6 billion in financing for energy efficiency and renewable energy that Better Buildings Financial Allies funded in 2017. As of December 2017, Metrus has financed $86 million towards their newly-pledged goal of $175 million.
