Thank you to all Better Buildings and Better Plants partners and attendees for joining us at this year’s Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) World Conference!
More than 1,600 industry professionals convened at AEE World 2023 in Orlando, Florida to learn about innovative energy efficiency and decarbonization solutions and technologies. Better Plants was a gold-level sponsor of the event and had its own track dedicated to highlighting partner success and solutions.

DOE’s Better Plants team hosted three technical sessions covering energy efficiency and energy management, industrial electrification, and low-carbon fuels, feedstocks, and energy sources. During sessions, the following partners shared their strategies and experiences and engaged with attendees for rounds of Q&A: Eastman Chemical Co., GE Aerospace, Pactiv Evergreen, Volvo Group North America, Whirlpool, RTX, Nestlé, and the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Partners, stakeholders, and attendees also met during the Better Plants luncheon for networking and Goal Achiever recognition. At the event, DOE recognized Cleveland-Cliffs, Oshkosh Corporation, and Volvo Group North America for achieving their energy efficiency and GHG emissions reduction goals. Learn more about their achievements in the 2023 Better Buildings Progress Report.

In the expo hall, the Better Plants booth was a hub of activity and gave the Better Plants team more opportunities to engage with partners and attendees.
Outside of the Better Plants track, DOE leadership participated in two panel discussions. Maria T. Vargas, director of the Better Buildings Initiative, discussed critical pathways for reducing carbon emissions and advancing electrification. Anne Hampson, acting deputy director of DOE’s Industrial Efficiency & Decarbonization Office, joined a panel discussion to share insights on the power of public-private collaboration and how DOE builds and supports partnerships to drive a clean energy future.
