Could you be a Green Lease Leader? Apply by April 3!
Does your organization include energy efficiency and sustainability in its lease clauses or corporate guidelines? Apply to be a 2020 Green Lease Leader! Developed through DOE’s Better Buildings Initiative and the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT), Green Lease Leaders is a national program that recognizes the accomplishments of leading landlords, tenants, real estate teams, and governments in the commercial office, retail, and industrial sectors who are breaking down barriers to higher-performing buildings and energy savings in leased spaces. Green leases create win-win agreements for building owners and tenants by equitably aligning the costs and benefits of energy and water efficiency investments for both parties.
In 2019, Green Lease Leaders represented more than 500 million square feet comprised of a diverse range of buildings from large and small commercial offices to industrial buildings and data centers. For the first time, a city (Cleveland, Ohio) and a shared workspace company (WeWork) received Green Lease Leaders recognition. The cumulative floor area of all Green Lease Leaders is now more than 2 billion square feet of building space – a clear indication that green leasing is continuing to grow as a best practice across markets and building types.
The deadline for the 2020 Green Lease Leaders application period has been extended to Friday, April 3. To see if you qualify for recognition for your green leasing efforts, visit greenleaseleaders.com. We hope to recognize you as a Green Lease Leader at the Better Buildings, Better Plants Summit.
