Through DOE's Better Buildings Initiative, partners share their proven energy efficiency strategies and inspire others to tap into the continued potential for energy efficiency. Collectively these organizations have saved 3.6 quadrillion Btus of energy, equivalent to $22 billion, and 224 million metric tons of carbon dioxide. Partners have reduced their water use by 22 billion gallons. Together, partners represent nearly 28 of the country's Fortune 100 companies, more than 20 of the top 25 U.S. employers, 14% of the U.S. manufacturing energy footprint, and 13% of total commercial building space, as well as more than 90 state and local governments spanning the nation.
As DOE expands its diverse network through the Better Buildings Initiative, it is engaging with partners and stakeholders in nearly every sector. With the needs of the marketplace changing frequently, the Better Buildings Initiative continues to find new ways to connect partners and stakeholders with key resources and recognition opportunities.
