When we announced the Better Buildings Challenge SWAP last May at the Better Buildings Summit, our goal was to find a new way to highlight leaders and share how everyone can learn from their peers, even those from an industry completely different than their own. After all, that is a large part of what the Better Buildings Challenge is all about. To do this, we worked with two partners -- Whole Foods Market and Hilton Worldwide -- and filmed their experience as they “swapped” energy teams at two San Francisco properties (Hilton San Francisco Union Square and Whole Foods Market Ocean Avenue).

The three episode web series, complete with photos and bonus videos is available tomorrow. While the episodes are short (about 7 mins each), we think they are engaging and convey the drive for continual innovation that characterizes partnership in Better Buildings. You can also dig into recommendations, meet the teams, and more on the SWAP website.

Episode 1 | Hilton visits Whole Foods Market:

Hilton Worldwide team conducts an energy audit of the Whole Foods Market store on Ocean Avenue in San Francisco. Viewers follow along to see what energy saving opportunities they find, what they learn from walking through the Whole Foods Market facility (inside and out), and how the teams work together to save energy.

Episode 2 | Whole Foods Market visits Hilton:

Roles reverse as the Whole Foods Market team conducts an energy audit of the largest hotel on the West Coast, Hilton San Francisco Union Square hotel on O’Farrell Street. Viewers will follow along to see what energy saving opportunities they find, what they learn from being in the Hilton hotel, and how the teams work together to save energy.

Episode 3 | “The Unveil”:

Hilton and Whole Foods Market teams share their energy audit findings and offer energy management solutions. Viewers watch as they make their recommendations for saving energy, what they learned, and what they plan to implement in their facilities moving forward.
